I'm seriously injured..I can't tie my shoes, drive my car or play soccer with my kids.
That's the claim of a certain nameless male in his 40's. Sounds sad that his income needs to be supplemented by an insurance company and the government(in other words, us)because of a work related fall.
Oh but wait, where is he going? Six Flags? A roller coaster? Walking and standing for hours? Swinging a large mallet? Climbing stairs with your daughter riding your shoulders?

There is a new app on Facebook called TrueScoop that allows Facebook account holders to search for quite a bit of private information including criminal records. There is some information stating that this is NOT a substitute for a true criminal background or any background check. But will people realize this?
Am I the only one who sees the potential problems with this service? This is surely no substitution for a REAL criminal background investigation using the tools of our trade and going straight for the court systems for accurate records. Private Investigators sound off.

Unlike some other agencies who demand a "required, non refundable minimum retainer" of upwards of twenty or even more hours of investigation, Long Island Investigations does not have that policy! So why pay for so much when you need only a few hours?

Long Island Investigations has a client friendly policy in regards to minimum retainer fees. We do not have a minimum retainer/hours fee for surveillance type cases (cheating spouse and insurance or workers compensation type cases). Each individual case will be reviewed along with the client's input to determine the true hours needed to launch a case. Each case will be customized to be efficient and cost effective, yet remain within budget. Therefor, you pay for only the hours you need.
In keeping up with numerous client requests, we have listened intently and acted accordingly.

Private Investigator Suffolk County Nassau Long Island - Surveillance Conditions

OK. Huge debate going on here. Regarding light and weather conditions, some of us feel night time or dark surveillance is easiest for covert reasons. Others feel daytime is better, particularly for side streets. I agree. Both have there positive and negative.
Surveillance in the darkness on side streets can be a killer. Any experienced surveillance investigator understands that. Daytime is easier, generally. But daytime with rain is, in my opinion, the best situation for being undetected. Without explaining why, I will say that if you have done surveillance in these conditions, you know exactly what I mean!

Private Investigator Suffolk County Nassau County - Wiring Home For Voice Recording

A flurry of calls lately has prompted a post on this subject.
Popular belief is that since you own your home, you can wire it to record voice when you are not present. This is simply not true. Doing so can cost you big time. If you are caught doing this and someone makes a complaint, you can be charged with a felony. In New York, if you are part of the conversation, then you CAN record. If you leave the home and catch your spouse's phone conversation or a visiting friend, and they find out, you can be in deep trouble.
For example: You think your spouse or partner is cheating. So you wire your home or place recorders in the home. Your significant other waits for you to leave and calls the girlfriend/boyfriend. His/her end of the conversation is recorded by your devices. You capture all the "love you" kind of stuff. You approach that person with the evidence and that person is pissed about it. That person can now press charges and you will be arrested.

Minimum retainer Fee Lifted - Suffolk County Private Investigator Nassau County Long Island

No More Minimum Retainer!

Long Island Investigations has a new consumer friendly policy in regards to minimum hours and retainer fees. We have eliminated the minimum retainer fee for surveillance type cases such as locates, child custody issues, cheating spouses and insurance or workers compensation cases. Each case will be reviewed individually, along with the client, to determine the hours needed to start a case.
In keeping up with numerous client requests, we have listened and subsequently acted.

The Current Economy and Insurance Fraud

As the economy sags and food,gas and everything else in life skyrockets in price, has insurance fraud increased? Are people taking the easy (and illegal) way out in greater numbers?

Well, I can say by recent experience, that it has, at least from what we see. Of course, this is our own experience and for all we know, it is not accurate. But I can tell you this; since the general public has been hurting and scared financially, we have seen a huge increase in fraud cases. Actually, recent event cases have tripled in the past three months! Is this just coincidence or is it a trend? I haven't checked with the Nassau County, Suffolk County or New York City Police Departments, but I wonder if crime in general, is up?
