The Current Economy and Insurance Fraud

As the economy sags and food,gas and everything else in life skyrockets in price, has insurance fraud increased? Are people taking the easy (and illegal) way out in greater numbers?

Well, I can say by recent experience, that it has, at least from what we see. Of course, this is our own experience and for all we know, it is not accurate. But I can tell you this; since the general public has been hurting and scared financially, we have seen a huge increase in fraud cases. Actually, recent event cases have tripled in the past three months! Is this just coincidence or is it a trend? I haven't checked with the Nassau County, Suffolk County or New York City Police Departments, but I wonder if crime in general, is up?
