If you are the victim of Identity Theft, there are a few things you need to know.

You should be contacting the special frauds units, in particular, as precinct level personnel may not have the expertise. Police and prosecutors offices in general, both have special fraud units.
When a family member of mine became a victim of identity theft, I did not hesitate to notify the Special Frauds Unit locally. I certainly did not open an investigation on my own. You have already had your privacy breached, your credit ruined and a boat-load of other issues. It certainly shouldn't and doesn't help you to pay further.

Nanny Cams and Audio

Some questions have been recently flowing regarding nanny cams, due to the latest Newsday article about an abusive nanny caught by the parents using a hidden camera.
In New York State, the use of a hidden camera is perfectly legal, in your home to monitor the nanny's activities. What is NOT legal is to have the camera recording audio. Video ONLY is legal. In fact, it is a Class E Felony to record a conversation that YOU are not partaking in.

Experience is Our Strength!
